Spring Break Clinic - 2008

The four principles of soccer are technique, strategy/tactics, psychological and physical. On hot days and in tough conditions maintaining hydration is essential.
Using technique to get around an opponent. Here, a move to the inside with the inside of the right foot followed by a quick move to the outside with the outside right foot has the defender off-balance.
Coaches should strategize and communicate with their players before games. Let the players play and allow them to make the on-field decisions.
Technique and tactics. The player has space in front of her. She's looking up and attacking. She is giving herself options to pass or dribbble and attack the goal.
Soccer is a game of tactics. The player has received the ball with her back to the goal within her own half of the field. Her head is up and she has a passing option to her left or going back to her central defender who is moving up in a supporting role to create another passing option. Triangles are key to effectively maintain ball posession and control.
